I hate to be the one to break it to you, but your beer or wine might be the culprit in causing your asthma and allergy reactions. An Australian study revealed that more than half of asthma and allergy suffers who drank had an allergic response such as coughing, sneezing, and itching, while over a third of the participants experienced an asthma attack. Don't worry though, those who are seeking relief from asthma don't have to give up either wine or beer, please read on as we have some good solutions for you.

Wine was ranked at the top of the study for triggering the most allergic responses and asthma attacks in the participants. Next, drinking beer came in at ten percent followed by hard liquor, which was ranked five percent in causing allergic and asthmatic reactions. Interestingly, the highest sensitivity to alcohol was observed in Asians who were asthmatics.

For many asthma and allergy suffers who are sensitive to wine there are two possible causes. The link of candida or yeast infection to asthma and allergies is clear and since wine is fermented and naturally contains yeast, this would trigger an asthma attack or allergy symptoms.

Pesticides and chemical preservatives can also be present in wine and those who are sensitive to them will find it a problem. Drinking organic wine offers a healthy alternative to those who can tolerate yeast. Fortunately there are many wonderful organic wineries to choose from.

Beer also contains yeast and preservatives, which can trigger an allergic response and or an asthma attack. Once again, if yeast is not a problem then finding a micro brewery that uses few or no preservatives is a good alternative for those who can't bear to part with their cold one.

If you are one of the unlucky ones who are bothered by alcohol then it's best to cut back your consumption as much as possible or or even abstain. For those who never experience any reaction to wine, beer or alcohol it's probably not an issue for you. One thing to keep in mind however, is that when you drink it creates a drop in your body's magnesium, which in turn can trigger asthma and other diseases. Drinking in moderation is always a wise choice. You'll find that taking these measures can benefit your overall health and fitness, reduce your asthma and allergies as well as offer asthma relief.
