Summary Box: Stocks slip as Greek debt hope dims (AP)

DISAPPOINTMENT ON GREECE: A burst of investor optimism that the Federal Reserve could save the U.S. economy faded in a hurry after a resolution to Greece's debt crisis looked further off.

U.S. DEBT UNCERTAINTY: Many analysts believe the Fed will announce a new stimulus plan at the end of a two-day policy meeting Wednesday. But investors are reluctant to take much risk even amid strong expectations about monetary policy.

THE INDEXES: The Dow Jones industrial average rose 7.65 points, or 0.1 percent, to 11,408.66. The Standard & Poor's 500 index fell 2, or 0.2 percent, to 1,202.09. The Nasdaq composite fell 22.59, or 0.9 percent, to 2,590.24.
