My sole?purpose for picking this book up was because one of my not-so-favorite people in High School (yes it was a long time ago, no I still don't like her) listed this as one of her favorite stories. It happened to be a really cool one.The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar and Six More is a collection of seven short stories written by Roald Dahl. They are generally regarded as being aimed for a slightly older audience than many of his other children's books. The stories were written at varying times throughout his life, and are believed by many to reflect some of his best fiction writing.
Henry Sugar was this dude who was all about money. He gambled all the time and had really cool stuff. One day, he reads this remarkable story about a guy who can see things with his eyes closed. The story was awesome and inspiring, and it inspired Henry alright. It inspired him to meditate and practice to be able to see through cards so he could always win in the casinos.
The thing that really made this story for me was the narration. It was the best thing I've ever read from Dahl so far! Does anyone know if he wrote anything else remotely as awesome as this short story?! I give this story 4 out of 4 stars!
