Actress Diane Kruger has vowed to treat journalists with a little more respect after recently taking on the role of a reporter stationed in war-torn Afghanistan.
The Inglourious Basterds star portrays a French journalist kidnapped by the Taliban in the upcoming film Special Forces, which is set to screen at the Cannes Film Festival on Thursday.
And Kruger reveals the research she did and the role she played has drastically changed her prospective towards the media, insisting she feels guilty about failing to realise the dangers reporters face on a day-to-day basis.
She tells the Associated Press, "It (the film) was an eye-opener. It made me appreciate journalism a lot more. I realised how jaded I was. How many times have I been at home cooking dinner and the news comes on and you go, 'Oh, turn that off. I don't want to hear what's going on.' I'd never really thought of what it takes for journalists to feed us that information."
