Pain in the arm pit can be caused by swelling lymph nodes that become tender as a result of an infection, viral illness or cancer. If the swelling or node tenderness stays longer than 2 months than you will want to see your physician to get to the bottom of it. A rule of thumb is that painful lymph nodes are healthy lymph nodes. Hard swollen and painless lymph nodes can indicate cancer.

It sounds like you are just fine and might have a small infection or illness. Good luck.
