LONDON (AP) -European football's January transfer window is closing with the leading clubs appearing to avoid any lavish outlays in the first season of UEFA's strict new financial controls.
The priority for Premier League leader Manchester City seemed to be shedding big earners, with defender Wayne Bridge joining Sunderland on loan on Tuesday. However, troublesome striker Carlos Tevez was still to find a new club with the 2300 GMT deadline approaching.
Paris Saint-Germain has been linked with Tevez and a string of leading players this month but has been unable to sign the type of big-name star craved by its Qatari owners.
Serie A pacesetter Juventus signed midfielder Padoin from Atalanta on Tuesday, while second-place AC Milan took midfielder Sulley Muntari on loan from neighbor Inter.
