It could happen. Nobody really expected Greece to win in 2004.

**** you if you think that's bad. Denmark beat us in qualifying.
The fact that a 5th ranked nation was seeded in the last pot is still annoying the living **** out of me.

Does anyone know when the Devils give the wristbands out and sell the day of game tix? I'm asking because I want to try and catch some of the Germany/Portugal game at a local bar there...

Same. Plus I don't really have a horse in the race. Turkey's usually my first choice from Europe cause one side of my family's from there. But they somehow didn't qualify after finishing 3rd or 4th in 2008
Netherlands is usually a team I wind up rooting for, I don't know why I still do since they're reminding me more of the Flyers with each tournament...a skilled team with bully tactics. But I still root for them cause I like the uniforms and they've never won crap other than one Euro in the late '80's despite being a good team. Plus now that I'm quasi into Arsenal, I can root for Van Persie there.

Probably the games I'm most interested in, plus France-England but I have no prayer of seeing any of that game other than on tape. The 2 and 2:30 weekday starts I'll maybe catch the second half of live. I so wish Netherlands-Germany wasn't on a weekday but at least it's a 2:30 start.

I have no idea why the Netherlands are always stuck in the group of death... let it be the Euro or the World Cup, they are always part of the toughest group.
Can't wait to see them play Germany. Two teams I really like but I can't go against the Oranje. Love this commercial made by Nike a couple of years ago...

I think that they're 11th but still, that's absurd. Those rankings suck anyways.

Same here, but who really cares about the rankings between the World Cup and the start of the next WC qualifying/EURO championship?
I mean, the US was ranked 11th at one point a few years back, the rankings in soccer are as goofy as some of the golf/tennis ones.
http://www.fifa.com/worldranking/index.html
Damn, the rankings are even more head-scratching than I thought.

For the Euro, FIFA rankings are irrelevant to ****.
I find it funny how the 2nd, 3rd, 10th and 11th seeds all wound up in the same 4-team group.

I don't really have a good feeling about this tourney. The defense really worries me especially the lack of good full-backs aside from Lahm and L?w will play Klose, Podolski, Mertesacker no matter how bad they will perform.

Could they have found a less appealing opening game?

It's always home team vs. 1st group opponent. Let's just hope Greece doesn't try to trap their way to another title like they did in Portugal where they also played in the opening game.
But considering they have no Rehaglis this time, i highly doubt it.
